Fuel Prices in Austria to Drop by 10 Cents per Liter

Austria plans a fuel price cap, limiting gas station margins and cutting mineral oil tax to lower prices by 10 cents per liter.

The government agreed overnight on Wednesday on a fuel price cap, as “Die Presse” learned from government sources. Profit margins for gas stations are to be limited and the mineral oil tax reduced.

The goal is to lower gasoline and diesel prices by an average of ten cents per liter. Further details are expected today after the Council of Ministers meeting. A legal regulation is to be in place by early April.
